Zoopla is one of the most well-known and respected brands in the UK. Its web-portal, zoopla.co.uk, helps people understand the UK property market and find their dream home. The platform which powers this website (and others!) is maintained and enhanced by a number of cross-functional engineering teams.
The Infrastructure team are responsible for both the foundational layer that underpins the portal platform, and providing tools/systems which allow the other teams to work more efficiently:
Maintaining our Amazon Web Services architecture, ensuring robustness, security, availability, scalability, and responsiveness.
Provide easy-to-use software abstractions of AWS`s capabilities and other core technologies (e.g. Solr; memcached; gearmand; redis; Fastly).
Provide systems and tools to drive our rapid development processes (e.g. gitlab; Jenkins; docker; Kubernetes)
Advise and work with other engineering teams on system architecture.

Collaborate with other leads to decide and drive the wider engineering roadmap and support the adoption of best practices.

Previous experience leading a software engineering team
Good communicator and collaborator.
Expertise with a mainstream scripting language (Python or Perl preferred).
Experience with dev-ops, containerisation and deployment in large-scale cloud environments.
A thorough knowledge of the Linux operating system, with the ability to debug and profile running processes and networking.
A good working knowledge of a relational database system (MySQL or Postgres preferred).
Ability to architect and build web services at enterprise scale.
Experience working in an agile environment.
