Whitgift Foundation - Teacher of Russian

We are seeking to recruit a passionate and driven individual to extend Whitgift’s flourishing languages provision by pioneering the teaching of Russian. The successful candidate will be in possession of a Russian degree, and must also be able to teach one of our current curricular languages to at least GCSE level. This is a unique and exciting opportunity potentially to found a new Department within our Faculty, which is already one of the largest and most vibrant in the UK.

As a diverse and internationally-minded school preparing pupils for the challenges of the twenty-first century, Languages naturally play a central role in our curriculum. Pupils currently learn three (from Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, German or French) on entry to the school with over half taking two at GCSE and almost the same proportion opting to pursue a modern language in our Sixth Form.

The post is as suitable for experienced teachers as it is for those brand new to the profession, who we would be able to support through our well-established Schools Direct programme to achieve qualified teacher status.

Staff will be encouraged to contribute fully to the co-curricular life of the School and this is reflected in the salary offered. A strong commitment to the pastoral and house system is also anticipated. Accommodation may be available. Assistance is offered towards removal expenses.

We welcome applications from all parts of our community as we aspire to attract staff that matches the social and cultural diversity of our student intake.

For further information and an online application form, please visit www.whitgift.co.uk/vacancies. For any queries, please telephone the Human Resources Department on 020 8688 9222 or email.

Applications will be reviewed on a daily basis and interviews may occur at any stage after applications are received so we invite interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
