Western Union - Communications Manager

We’re seeking a Communications Manager, based in our Hammersmith, London office. In this role, you will provide input in the development of and manage corporate and consumer communications strategies, as well as support communications programs that successfully raise the profile of the Money Transfer Business across the European and CIS region. You will report to the regional leader for Global Money Transfer Communications and ensure timely delivery of the communications program to create a strong connection between consumers and Western Union.

You will be responsible for leading the creation of content in support of business priorities that can be distributed through a variety of channels – including external & internal and digital.

The Manager will also provide strategic support and counsel to the Western Union Bank, on an as-needed basis.

  • Support region-wide communications programs across a wide variety of channels;

  • Responsible for executing the project plans to achieve company objectives, leveraging both internal and external resources;

  • Deliver timely and compelling communications materials across a variety of channels – including external communications (media relations), internal communications (employee engagement), and digital communications (blogs and social media.);

  • Formulate earned news angles and successful story placements as a part of a specific launch/product announcement or creative news angle development factoring both traditional and online channels

  • Support the communications deliverables of the division’s agent partners to support business objectives

  • Provide timely response to incoming media requests, and support ongoing efforts in support of business objectives

  • Support leaders in external & internal presentations and events to build the reputation for the company;

  • Support in the management of PR Agency partners in key countries

What you will need to succeed:

  • Extensive experience in a mid-level communications role, preferably in an international company, agency or non-profit.

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent qualification

  • You will need have exceptional writing skills and also be competent in visual storytelling (PowerPoint presentations, infographics, etc.) and operate in a highly dynamic environment

  • You must have experience in formulating news angles and successful story placements as a part of a specific launch/product announcement or creative news angle development

  • Experience in successfully leading multiple projects simultaneously and able to track projects with varying deadlines is a must.

  • Fluency in English & French is a must
