University College London - Library Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities

UCL SSEES Library is one of the UK’s largest specialist collections on Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, Russia and the former Soviet Union.

We are looking to recruit a full-time Library Assistant for a fixed-term appointment of 12 months while the current post holder takes a career break.

Duties include assisting users at the Library Help Desk, shelving and shelf-tidying and carrying out a variety of clerical duties in different departments of the Library. 

Key Requirements

Applicants should have experience of working with the public and possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team are also vital. Some knowledge of Russian or another East European language and the Cyrillic alphabet is essential. Previous experience of working in a Library would be an advantage.
