The successful candidate will be responsible for maintenance and innovation in multiple areas of research and forecasting, including crop production and demand analysis in Europe and possibly Asia, international vessel flows and supply chain analysis, and possible contributions to weather and climate research. The successful candidate will author expert discussion, data display and analytical capabilities on Eikon, Refinitiv’s desktop platform, and will collaborate with Market Development partners to support business growth in Europe and Asia through crop tours, external presentations and face-to-face interaction/phone calls with key clients and prospects in the agricultural market.
Superlative written and spoken communication skills
Experience analyzing agriculture market fundamentals and drivers
Experience evaluating interactions among the physical environment, managed or economic systems, and/or biological organisms
Strong grounding in statistics and computing, with proficiency in one or more of the following languages/environments: Matlab, R, Python, as well as competency in SQL
Expertise in agronomic analysis, agro-economic modeling, and/or satellite remote sensing and geospatial analysis
Ability to travel within and outside Europe
PhD or Master's degree in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Economics, Geography, Meteorology, Plant Sciences, or a closely related discipline
Experience with commercial wheat, rapeseed/canola, corn, soybean, oil palm and/or cotton production
Knowledge of the futures, options, and cash markets for agricultural commodities
Knowledge of Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, French, and/or Portuguese is highly desirable
