Global University Systems - Social Media Executive

This role is ideal for someone who’s interested in online branding, reputation management and social media marketing.

Working with a team of tight-knit social media specialists and the wider communications department, you will work with the Social Media team to help a selection of academic brands showcase their industry expertise, drive student recruitment and supercharge our online communities with exciting and engaging social media content.

You will be working closely with multiple teams, including brand marketers, copywriters, designers and academic staff to ensure we’re making a big impact in the marketplace. You’ll also explore new and innovative ways to connect and engage with our target audience, as well as fostering our existing student and alumni community to drive participation and user-generated content.

You’ll join a department which provides services to more than a dozen educational and training brands within the Global University Systems group, with locations across the world. Our brands cover everything from finance to fashion, so you will be exposed to a wide variety of subjects, industries, and target audiences.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Developing creative social media content across mainstream social media platforms, aiming to improve online visibility, community engagement, and return on investment within our target audience.

  • Working with brands to supercharge our content for social, including (but not limited to) student testimonials/case studies, industry interviews, blog posts, open days and more. This may occasionally mean attending events in and outside London, so willingness to travel is required.

  • Working effectively with the wider marketing department, including creative designers, copywriters, SEO team, brand marketing executives and brand managers to develop creative, revenue-focused campaigns.

  • Working closely with academics, the brand marketing teams, and key stakeholders to position programmes within the marketplace in an engaging way, both in the UK and internationally.

  • Improving the consumer journey across all social media touch points for prospective and current students, as well as alumni.

  • Keeping an eye on industry news and development, and be constantly learning new skills and techniques relevant to the role and industries.

Requirements:
Qualifications & education

  • University degree in marketing, PR, communications, or a related subject.

  • Alternatively, an equivalent qualification with at least 1 year of social media management experience.

  • Desirable

  • Course modules in social media marketing, online public relations or digital marketing.

  • Any of the following certifications: Hootsuite Social Marketing; Facebook Blueprint; Hubspot Inbound; Hubspot Content Marketing.

Knowledge & skills

  • Must have strong knowledge of mainstream social media platforms, user behaviour, and community engagement.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-starter with drive and determination.

  • Good negotiating and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Good numeracy skills and an understanding of social media metrics

  • A high standard of computer literacy.

  • Desirable

  • Experience using a social media management tool like Buffer, Hootsuite, Falcon, Sprout Social, etc.

  • Proficiency in any of the following languages would be a big plus: German, Russian, Chinese or Arabic

Experience

  • At least 1 year in a B2C or B2B social media executive role, marketing or digital sales role within a company or agency.

  • Demonstrable experience managing social media profiles.

  • Previous experience working within a team.

  • Previous experience working with multiple stakeholders.

  • Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a social media, online advertising or digital marketing team, either within an agency, in the education sector, or both.
