About the Construction Solutions opportunity:

The Construction Solutions Practice provides an advisory service to the global construction and engineering community, on contractual, commercial and technical issues. Our main focus is on the prevention, management, and resolution of disputes which may affect projects. So in essence our business is all about risk, and time and money issues.

The practice is heavily orientated towards dispute resolution, and we are regularly called upon to forensically investigate why delays or additional costs have arisen on a project: who is responsible and to what extent parties are responsible to others in terms of time and money. We work very closely with Uk and Global law firms to investigate and then resolve disputes, and we act either as claims advisors or as Expert Witness.

Our global team has over 200 specialists who are drawn from a wide range of industry disciplines including Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Planning/Scheduling, and Programme Management, and they have experience in a variety of industry sectors which include Building, Civil Engineering, Oil and Gas, Water, Power, Rail, and Water. Many of our team have additional qualifications in law.

The projects we work on are diverse and to provide a flavour, this year in our UK & Europe practice (through our offices in London, Stirling, Paris and Madrid) we have worked on the following projects:

  • Prestigious housing development in West London
  • 3,000km gas pipeline in Turkey
  • Mixed use development in Russia
  • FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading Vessel) in South Korea
  • Waste to Energy plant in North England
  • Whiskey distillery in Scotland
  • J-Lay tower for a deep-water pipelaying vessel in Holland

Our typical clients are national and multi-national Contractors, Owners, Operators and Developers, together with specialist construction and engineering firms.

Construction Solutions in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), comprises of teams in the Middle East (in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha) in addition to those in the UK & Europe.

As part of our Construction Solutions team, you'll have the opportunity to work as a member of our teams on different commissions. Each commission will have its own unique set of facts and circumstances, and the role will typically involve understanding and analysing issues, document review, attending meetings with our clients, and assisting with the development of reports. Occasionally the role will require travel to site in the UK, and there also may opportunities from time to time to travel overseas to visit sites and to work on a short-term basis in FTI offices.

There will also be opportunities to work in teams alongside other FTI segments, such as Corporate Finance, where a commission involves several disciplines.

You can expect to be fully integrated into commission teams and to be immersed in new challenges.
