CRU International - Nitrogen Analyst

The fertilizer business unit is seeking a talented and motivated London-based Research Analyst to join the Nitrogen team. The successful candidate will be contributing primarily to our coverage of the global ammonia and urea markets. This role requires the ability to employ a range of techniques used to analyse medium and long-term commodity trends, as well as being comfortable working as part of a fast-paced team that is committed to delivering high-quality research to our clients.

Candidates should have a top degree (first or 2:1), from a top British university or equivalent level qualification from a leading university outside of the UK.

The role will also require a level of international travel, so candidates need to be comfortable with this.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Analysing and forecasting market fundamentals and trends

  • Communicating in written and verbal form to CRU’s international client base

  • Working closely with product editors across the fertilizer team to publish reports in a timely manner

  • Contributing to analysis on the industry costs of production

  • Contribute to development of fertilizer models and data management initiatives

Knowledge & Experience 

  • Strong background in maths and/or economics

  • Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data/modelling

  • Numeracy and ability to critically analyse data, identifying trends and key drivers

  • Evidence of commercial awareness would also be an advantage, particularly an understanding of commodities markets

Technical & Other Skills

  • Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • Second language is desirable (particularly Russian, Chinese or Arabic)

  • A background in engineering is also attractive, but not required
