Coursera - Manager, University Partnerships Management

The University Partnerships Team oversees and nurtures all of the relationships with institutional and faculty partners, collaborating with partners to align institutional and Coursera objectives around a shared mission. In particular, the Strategic Partnerships Team is responsible for identifying and sourcing high-quality content, from single courses to degrees, that push the boundaries of pedagogical innovation. Partnership Managers have deep familiarity with our product and organization, our partners’ structure and mission, and the landscape in which we operate.

Coursera is looking for an experienced and strategic leader to lead our partnership efforts with EMEA & Russia universities and other educational institutions. Reporting directly to the Chief Content Officer, you will play a leading role in positioning Coursera as a strategic and critical resource, and develop new business opportunities with our educational partners. From these institutions, we have thousands of instructors, teaching staff, and university administrators working side-by-side towards a mission of creating a future where everyone, regardless of who or where they are, has access to a world class education.

A successful candidate has strong operational skills and experience to get things done in a complex and dynamic environment with many stakeholders, business skills as this is essential to our business, ability to use data and partner knowledge to strengthen the how we develop our roadmap. It is equally important to provide guidance and leadership at the executive levels, to your people managers and partnership managers to set vision and strategy.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the EMEA & Russia University Partnerships team in building strategic relationships with Coursera partners including the acquisition of high-quality relevant contentSet the vision, priorities, and strategy for the team, identifying high-leverage activities to drive outcomes and effectively align partners to Coursera goals and develop new business opportunitiesSynthesize and communicate within Coursera a coherent, global view on partner strategies and perspectives to drive alignment and increased business impact on both sidesRepresent the EMEA & Russia Partnerships team and the partner perspective at the executive level, including being an effective advocate within the company for the key role that partners play in Coursera’s mission and success. Conversely, represent Coursera to partners as an effective thought partner to help support the partner-level strategyWork cross-functionally across Coursera (product, business development, and marketing) to develop strategy and understand its implications on our partnersRefine the academic partnership lifecycle to deliver a seamless and compelling experience to our partners including pedagogical, analytical, product, and strategic supportHire, grow, develop the EMEA & Russia Partnerships team and provide mentorship and coaching to regional managers and professional development at all levels of the partnerships Lead the EMEA & Russia University Partnerships team in building strategic relationships with Coursera partners including the acquisition of high-quality relevant content

  • Set the vision, priorities, and strategy for the team, identifying high-leverage activities to drive outcomes and effectively align partners to Coursera goals and develop new business opportunities

  • Synthesize and communicate within Coursera a coherent, global view on partner strategies and perspectives to drive alignment and increased business impact on both sides

  • Represent the EMEA & Russia Partnerships team and the partner perspective at the executive level, including being an effective advocate within the company for the key role that partners play in Coursera’s mission and success. Conversely, represent Coursera to partners as an effective thought partner to help support the partner-level strategy

  • Work cross-functionally across Coursera (product, business development, and marketing) to develop strategy and understand its implications on our partners

  • Refine the academic partnership lifecycle to deliver a seamless and compelling experience to our partners including pedagogical, analytical, product, and strategic support

  • Hire, grow, develop the EMEA & Russia Partnerships team and provide mentorship and coaching to regional managers and professional development at all levels of the partnerships organization. Help think through and resolve challenging partner situations

  • Lead the development of systems and processes to become a best-in-class partnerships team, including: team meeting format, knowledge sharing systems, knowledge management tools, and more

Your skills

  • 5+ years of partnership or customer success management experience

  • Previous experience with academic institutions or academic partnerships at the higher education 5+ years of partnership or customer success management experience

  • Operationally strong in relationship management, knowledge management best practices, and business strategies

  • Ability to conduct business in Russian along with French would be highly advantageous

  • Experience in a technology-oriented company, including early-stage products

  • Successful track record of setting and executing on ambitious vision/goals
