Cisco - Consulting Engineer

What You’ll Do

  • Review technical business requirements and proposing designs to meet the customer current and future business needs. Whilst also providing IT consultancy, design, implementation and support services to customers.

  • Produce and present project documentation including design, implementation and testing in line with Cisco standards.

  • Deliver Cisco’s brand of Professional Services by working closely with the customer on issues and opportunities in their IT environment. This involves the analysis of data collected from the customer’s environment against Cisco standards and guidance to provide them with innovative solutions whilst also optimizing availability and stability.

  • Become the trusted advisor, building a solid, long-term relationship with your customers through providing technical thought leadership in solving customer issues and achieving their business outcome.

Who You’ll Work With

The Cisco Customer Experience Team (CX) has a great opportunity for a lead Network Consulting Engineer (NCE). The Europe, Middle East and Russian (EMEAR) CX Architectures team is responsible for critical customer facing roles requiring a unique ability to influence innovation by recognizing gaps in customer capabilities and translating them into technical recommendations that affect business outcomes. This role will have you being part of the core technical leadership team migrating a customers core network. You will work with a wide virtual team based in a variety of countries within the region with diverse backgrounds. To be able to keep our team as the best technology professionals in the industry, we have established a strong focus on continuous development; you should expect the best in technical and consulting skills training.

Who You Are

  • Proven experience and advanced knowledge in the following major areas of: Routing & Switching Platforms and Datacenter Platforms, with familiarity of a number of their software and advanced features.

  • Strong Experience and knowledge in the Enterprise and Service Provider environments with expert level of internetworking and solution troubleshooting in these complex environments. You will have good Networking and Datacentre design skills, with strong current knowledge of networking fundamentals and good experience in Professional/Consulting Services or high-level support

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Overlay Solutions, Cloud and IT infrastructures plus automation and orchestration implementation. With a clear understanding and ability to communicate the latest market trends as Cisco will continue to partner and form eco-systems to deliver comprehensive solutions to our customer base.

Strong experience of technical consulting with demonstrable experiences of leading customers and their teams through the design and implementation of new complex technologies that are core to their business

  • Self-motivated with solid technical leadership and collaboration skills with excellent written, oral communication and listening skills communication skills to interact with various levels within a customers’ organization.

  • Network Design and Implementation background with a track record of leading technical teams throughout the Plan, Design and Implementation lifecycle

  • Conduct Certification testing, HLD and Migration strategies using various options that are aligned and revised to meet the customers’ business objectives

  • Expert knowledge and experience of Ethernet Switching, VLANs, VTP, STP, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, VSS, VPC, REP, G8032, VXLAN MPLS, MPLS VPN (L2VPN, L3VPN, Inter AS, CsC), OSPF, BGP, MVPN (Draft Rosen) and Traffic engineering

  • Hands-on knowledge of technologies Segment Routing, EVPN/VXLAN, MACSEC, ASR 9K core design and migration, WAN Automation Engine and Cisco Crossworks

  • Good interpersonal skills, Excellent communicator, Self-Motivated and Team player. Presentation skills with experience of presenting to various live audiences.

Willingness to work on customer site for long periods of time to

  • Typically requires BSc, BA or University degree equivalent with extensive experience in network engineering, telecommunications or datacentre support environments.

  • Active CCIE certification in SP or Routing Switching discipline

  • Fluent in English
