Medtronic - Market Development Manager

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager and working hand in hand with the broader PH> Marketing organization you will develop, lead and execute on key market development programs across EMEA to meet the strategic goals of sustained new patient and market penetration growth.


  • Secure continuous new patient growth to the therapy by developing and executing market development plans for Medtronic Pelvic Health & Gastric Therapies to achieve short and long-term new patient growth, clearly defining needs, gaps, opportunities, priorities & ROI

  • Understand the true customer and market development need and anticipate external forces that could impact future market growth and continuously increase awareness and interest in the therapy for both physicians & patients

  • Be accountable for the execution of key market development programs by partnering closely with the regional marketing and sales teams across EMEA and the SBU (Strategic Business Unit), in developing and implementing local, tactical marketing and sales support activities and ensure effective lines of communication.

  • Develop the base marketing toolkit for implementation of key strategies, including therapy messaging, promotion activities and positioning


  • Drive key Market Development programs

  • Work closely with the wider business functions including Reimbursement, Training and Education, Clinical & Commercial excellence to support the overall direction of the development/execution of supportive programs & tools

  • Own the “Patient Acceleration Access” process both on EMEA level and country/regional level and deliver yearly PAA-plans.

  • Develop new referral streams from other specialties (UroGynecologists, gynecologists)

  • Support existing or new Patients’ Advocacy Groups (PAG’s) to implement therapy awareness and acceptance programs across target countries; develop patient awareness campaigns to drive therapy penetration and coordinate and track efforts centrally and within countries.

  • Define digital communication strategy for awareness efforts, assessing the most optimal channels to invest in (owned, paid, earned communication channels)

  • Increase the awareness of the therapy via websites, PR activities, and interaction with PAGs

  • Support the development central and local of therapy awareness websites and track web usage, trends and users preferences, gather information, polls, working with central web department

  • Support central and local PR activities to promote and disseminate therapy awareness

  • Support Health Economics activity specific for thePH> therapy to further reduce economic barriers

  • Conduct Marketing Research & Sales Analysis - Initiate, manage and summarize market research and studies to determine customer beliefs and advise management of relevant market trends or knowledge gaps identified

  • Support or lead congress presence with multi-functional team

  • Strong in marketing skills particularly in marketing strategies, in product positioning, quality improvement, pricing and reimbursement.

  • Comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the medical device industry

  • Ability to quickly manage and execute on digital campaigns, PR or strategic awareness campaign.

  • Ability to plan, manage and execute projects within budget and on schedule.

  • Ability to identify, manage and improve marketing processes and drive commercial benefit.

  • Strong analytical, financial and planning skills.

  • Strong relationship building skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Solid understanding of the sales process and business accumen. (having sales experience would be a plus)

  • Ability to work with high level executives and to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization and customers (strong written and verbal skills).

  • Ability to work co-operatively in a matrix environment.


  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Life-science, Healthcare or another relevant, advanced degree

  • Minimum 3 years experience in marketing or sales & marketing, some of which must be in healthcare industry. Knowledge of Urology, Coloproctology and Gastroenterology market and related therapies is a plus.

  • Advanced IT skills in MS Office, i.e. MS Excel / Powerpoint.

  • Digital Marketing experience would be a big plus

  • Fluent in English and another European Language would be a plus

  • Some international travel will be required: 30 - 40% of the time.

  • Can be home based, must live within 50km of a major international airport
