Groupon is hiring a senior technology leader to drive its program of localisation of key platform capabilities.. This is an opportunity to head up a key transformation initiative and work with leading edge technologies and teams.
We are building a team that will be responsible for building regional specific technical capabilities that will help propel Groupon International’s growth. This includes, but is not limited to, integrating external partners on Groupon’s core platform, develop sales tools that are bespoke, or leveraging salesforce.com and insidesales.com platforms, Implement marketing, merchandizing and lead management systems, work with the data scientists to implement smart applications. This role will report to Groupon International’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Provide strategic and tactical decision making based on in-depth technical and business understanding of Architecture, Software Development and International priorities.
Work with core platform engineering and product management teams to develop the strategy and long term roadmap for International Engineering.
Hire, develop and coach a distributed Engineering team.
Ensures that standards are defined for technical excellence.
Helps ensure that the team has the training and tools they need to ensure customer delight with our offering.
Manage team activities in continuous alignment with the Architecture
Manage incoming work streams, prioritize team work assignments, and ensure commitments are consistently achieved in alignment with company priorities.

You are motivated by delivering business results leveraging technology.
Are experienced in starting a technology organization from scratch.
Deep technical expertise, and experience in implementation of variety of bespoke application, as well as popular products such as Salesforce.com, Eloqua, Insidesales.com, etc.
You decisions about whether to build or buy are based purely on the customer needs and time to market requirements.
Track record of agile development, on-time delivery of projects, and cost management
Experience managing technology delivery through geographically diverse teams, including outsource vendors.
You know how to deliver business applications in EMEA given the inherent language, cultural, taxation, and legal complexities.
Track record of collaboration and managing through influence is a must.

Strong multi-level relationship management, persuasion and influencing skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 10-12 years supervisory experience and proven success in managing global technical teams in a fast-paced, dynamic customer-facing software business. Knowledge of industry best practices for software development, IT life cycles, mentoring and leadership of diverse IT professionals.
