Bank of America - Python Developer

Here in our Dublin office we are looking for a dedicated Python developer to work as part of an Agile team on high profile projects within the Risk Technology group based in Dublin. This role is well suited to an experienced developer with a track record of applicable experience. A good knowledge of Python is critical as is a practical experience working with the language. In addition, experience of relational databases and SQL/PLSQL is important.

This exciting role is well suited to dynamic developers with a keen interest in investment banking. You will have excellent communication skills, comfortable working with the wider Sparck team in London, New York and India. You will work in the Credit Risk Technology team and will be contributing to some of the most significant risk projects in the organisation.

What will your main responsibilities involve?

  • Work as part of a team of developers, business analysts, testers and Risk Technology customers focusing on the area of Counterparty Credit Risk

  • Contribute to the design of solutions to meet the needs of the CCR business

  • Take agreed designs and implement the agreed solutions

  • Ensure that a Test Driven Development methodology is followed at all times

  • Work with our business users and Quality Assurance teams to successfully test each deliverable

  • Handle the release and deployment process of your solutions

  • Contribute to all agile routines undertaken by the team including, for example, retrospectives, design meetings and sprint planning meetings

  • Mentor junior members of the team

  • Produce all relevant project artifacts

  • Design of test strategy including preparing test cases

  • Maintain solid communications among and between team members and business team

  • Ensure projects follow processes and meet project standards

What skills and qualifications will you ideally possess?

  • Degree/Masters or equivalent experience

  • Solid experience as Python developer

  • A passion for the delivery of high quality solutions which address real business needs

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • A good knowledge of Python including practical experience working with the language

  • Experience of distributed computing is critical

  • Software development background with exposure to Agile / Scrum methodologies

  • Familiarity with CODE / Jira

  • Experience with object oriented and relational databases/SQL is helpful
