Vereinigung für die Demokratie (VD) e.V. [Association for Democracy] is a non-profit organization based in Berlin. The association runs and develops independent media outlets in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. Our digital media platforms «Meydan TV» in Azerbaijan and «Romb» in Russia represent a counterweight to the state narrative through investigations, engaged reporting and advocacy journalism, and in doing so, have proven to influence politics and people’s lives in a positive way. We believe that independent media and fact-based professional journalism is a decisive basis for the political development of all societies and these values are what drives our work. We are searching immediately for a

Fundraising Manager

Your profile:

  • Developing concept notes together with Heads of the Projects and lead Editors;

  • Writing proposals;

  • Monitoring and research the human rights situation (particularly freedom of expression) in Russia and Azerbaijan;

  • Public representation (participation in external events representing both projects);

  • Maintaining working relationships with an existing pool of donors;

  • Active exploring new funding opportunities;

  • Maintaining donor’s calendar (events; deadlines for proposals and reports);

  • Preparation of narrative reports in collaboration with Heads of the Projects and editorial/SM teams;

  • Assisting in strategic decision making;

  • Producing organizational materials, e.g. newsletter, presentation, annual report;

  • Organization public events, e.g. donor meeting.


  • Proven track of record of successful fundraising for non-profit and/or media organizations;

  • Profound expertise in political and human rights situation across the post-Soviet space, especially Russia and Azerbaijan;

  • Excellent presentation skills;

  • Availability to travel internationally (primarily Europe)

  • Excellent writing and oral skills;

  • English native speaker level;

  • Knowledge of Russian/Azerbaijani/Turkish is an advantage.
