SAP Export Control is a central corporate function that is responsible for ensuring SAP’s compliance with applicable export and import laws and regulations and trade sanctions. It defines SAP’s export control and trade compliance policy, advises the company on legal requirements and best practices, monitors delivery channels and manages export approvals for SAP’s deliveries on premise and in the Cloud. SAP Export Control further supports the company in analyzing and meeting export control related market requirements and in dealing with customers, partners, authorities and policy makers worldwide.
Our service portfolio comprises the determination of appropriate export classifications of our products, the definition and specification of export compliant shipment channels as well as the compliance monitoring and identification of license requirements regarding all applicable export control laws, trade restrictions and sanctions. Our aim is to support our business partners by ensuring on-time, legally compliant and quality focused product classifications and deliveries of products and services.
SAP Export Control reports to the Executive Board. SAP Export Control includes an operations team that is responsible for ensuring compliance through appropriate export control compliance processes and policies and a legal team which supports the operations team and other functions at SAP with legal advice and with the implementation of new or changing regulatory requirements.
SAP Export Control is based at SAP’s headquarters in Germany, with currently employees in Germany, Russia, India and the United States of America. It closely interacts with SAP Logistic Services and other global and local functions in the areas of legal and compliance, government relations, product development and operations.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a solution architect / expert who can integrate into a professional team and independently drive assigned tasks and responsibilities.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Handling of SAP’s export compliance management processes
(sanctioned party list screening, embargo checks, export and import authorizations, reporting)
Processing of export control classification (ECCN) requests
Performing daily operations with German and U.S. export control authorities concerning export authorizations applications and the associated reporting as well as product and customer related requests
Partnering with other Export Compliance team members and key stakeholders, e.g. Sales, Finance, Development, Delivery Units in a professional manner to improve import and export processes
Applying excellent communication style according to internal and external stakeholders and situations is required
Staying current with changes and driving improvements of existing processes, policies, guidelines and other documentation
Supporting the creation and execution of Export Control knowledge transfer
Leading projects, e.g. the implementation of legal changes and respective adjustments in SAP’s Export Control Compliance systems
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Bachelor/ master’s degree in business and law, international business, or equivalent education
Very good analytical skills, communication, presentation and writing skills
Proven and demonstrated ability to present a complex issue to senior management is required
Experience in export control / foreign trade environment topics and systems such as SAP ERP, CRM, BPS
High quality awareness and effective execution of complex tasks
Willingness and ability to work in a compliance function to fulfill corporate requirements
Ability to work as an individual contributor and closely collaborate across teams and cultures
Very good network builder upon trust
Project management experience
Fluent Business English
5+ years’ professional experience; experience in high-tech industry is a plus
Working experience with SAP GTS, ERP, CRM, BPS
International working experience would be an asset due to our collaboration with multi-national teams
Engineering or a technical background is a plus
