Extend Consulting - Head of International Sales

My client is a Germany-based premium ophthalmic company. As part of her strategic agenda our client, a fast-growing innovation-driven company that develops, produces and distributes premium ophthalmic implantable medical devices on a world-wide scale, is looking for her Head of International Sales, EMEA. He/She. will report to the CEO in his Sales, Marketing and Services leadership role.

ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Manage indirect sales channel in the region. As such is responsible for the Sales and

  • Marketing mix along with his P&L in the region according to the Company ́s guidelines and

  • approved business plans.

  • Design Yearly Business Plan in alignment with the Company ́s strategy and in close

  • cooperation within the International Distributor Market department and the various support functions among which: Finance department, Business Support and Training, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical & Medical Affairs (CMA).

  • Implement and monitor the Plan in coordination with key stakeholders. Perform Risk and Opportunity management and implement approved mitigation or growth plans. Regularly reports business status to management

  • Manage existing Partners portfolio, assess their performance, identify and propose alternatives as necessary

  • Identify and Acquire new markets once approved by Management

  • Manage Key Opinion Leaders in key markets in coordination with the local partner on one

  • hand and relevant departments i.e. CMA

  • Perform Market Intelligence in key markets

  • Give yearly Input to Strategic Plan

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED

  • International Sales and Marketing professional with at least 5 years of expertise in Ophthalmology or Optics and 10 years in similar positions in the Medical Device industry with focus on the Operating Room. An experience in Training and

  • Application is a plus.

  • You master International Distributor Management in every facet. You love leading complex negotiation in a multicultural environment. Your social competence is high and allows you to build up long term business relationships with Partners as well as with key stakeholders among them key opinion leaders.

  • Adaptable to multiple market situation you feel at ease in dealing with mature markets as well as with developing markets. You master different business models,

  • Consumables, Capital equipment, and Services.

  • Passionate by Ophthalmology and the surgical arena, you are innovation-driven and technology- affine. You feel good in a start-up environment and at the same time have a structured approach. Strategic thinker and hands-on, you are a team player bringing added-value to the Sales, Marketing and Service Department.

You are a hunter more than a farmer and demonstrate accountability and initiative-taking. Fast, self- started, you are target-driven i.e. missing your target is for you not an option. Empathic and candid you are open to feed-back and you also give structured feed-back. You feel good in the C-Suite.
Your personal ethics are at highest level and compliance to local laws and regulations as well as to Company ́s rules and regulations is not an option for you.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • MBA or equivalent.

  • Training in Ophthalmology, Optics or Optometry.

  • The position is based in Germany and implies frequent travelling. Working languages are German and English. Fluency in English and conversational German are required.

  • French, Spanish or Russian are a significant plus.

  • Potential to grow in the organization and leadership skills are required
