Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute - Chief Accountant

Responsible for the general accounting function including maintaining of financial transactions, balance sheet schedules and bank reconciliations. Analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports or other financial activities within the organization.

Main duties: 

  • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of all financial transactions

  • Recording, classifying and summarizing financial transactions and events in accordance with accepted local accounting principles and financial reporting standards

  • Making bank transactions, managing petty cash

  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable

  • Processing payment of salaries according to documents from external payroll provider

  • Preparation of monthly turnover tax advance return (USt-VA)

  • First Assessment of taxable spheres for business transactions/events

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to officials

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual group budget execution reports according to internal managerial policy and reporting standards

  • Preparing annual group budget report and current amendments in cooperation with respective HODs

  • Advising and assisting the HODs with calculation and control of their budgets

  • Preparing combined financials for DOC Group according to IFRS

  • Cooperation with external auditors to carry out annual external auditing

  • Other financial management duties assigned by the COO/CEO



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field

  • Work experience: 3 or more years of experience in accounting/ finance

  • Knowledge in both commercial and non-profit sectors of economy

Person specification, knowledge, skills:

  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communicational skills in English & German, (Russian and French is a plus)

  • Accountant with relevant qualification in accounting/finance, Good knowledge of local law (HGB / Steuerrecht) & IFRS

  • Ability to work in a multicultural diverse environment

  • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Power Point)

  • Time-management, problem-solving skills

  • An open and participative style

  • Resilient and able to work under pressure, handle diverse ad-hoc requests

  • Budget-management skills and proficiency, be able to work within a budget

  • Strong corporate ethos and effective team member
